The Global Commission for Monitoring Higher Education provides a partnership between the US Secretary of Education and the private education community that allows free access to education for all without distinction.
GCMHE focuses on monitoring and quality control in the accreditation provided by accreditation associations, organizations and councils. Information about approved and verified accreditation bodies is continually reviewed to support clarity and the responsible selection of educational institutions.
Within an open global space for students and educational institutions, the Commission works to monitor the quality of education and accreditation delivered through accreditation associations.
Why this work matters
The accreditation market is not regulated in a uniform way. GCMHE was established to focus on accreditation quality and to identify false accreditation organizations that claim to accredit higher education.
False accreditation bodies are reported to the Ministry of Education or, where they operate abroad, to the competent authorities. With an international reach, GCMHE acts as an independent supervisory body focused on protecting the quality of education.
