Services
Connecting civil society and intergovernmental processes.
Through the CSONet network, we facilitate the participation of non-governmental organizations in intergovernmental processes taking place inside and outside UN headquarters.
In New York alone, approximately 7,000 NGO representatives attend these events each year.
Technical assistance
With support from the UN Development Account, we carry out limited capacity-building activities with civil society organizations.
Registration support
Within DESA, we help facilitate the registration of educational NGOs with ECOSOC subsidiary bodies, including commissions concerned with education, development, population and sustainable development.
Accreditation oversight
We monitor accreditation quality, maintain a list of trusted associations and refer concerns about false accreditation to the competent authorities.
Institutional relationships
Our branch is part of the Office for the Promotion and Coordination of ECOSOC (OESC), a division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).
In addition to DESA, we work with the UNOG NGO Liaison Unit in Geneva, UN Women’s Commission on the Status of Women, UN-NGLS, DPI relations with NGOs, OHCHR, the Office for Disarmament, UNAIDS, the Office of the President of the General Assembly, and other UN agencies and programmes.
